Heidi
Black and tan, a neat and friendly bitch thought to be 3-4 years of age who will need to be spayed. Being rehomed through no fault of her own. Heidi is very clean, friendly and has been well cared for, can be a little vocal as she is anxious in kennel environment which she is not used to. Has lived with a GSD bitch and more recently young children but will not be placed with young family as she has had two changes of home within the same block of flats in the last few months and has had enough to cope with. More details from Evelyn Sengendo (01294) 272184. Land line numbers only please. Heidi can be seen in Ayrshire.
Blue - Click On Pictures For Larger Versions
This is a black and tan bitch, not spayed - and born on 16 August, 2009. A nice natured friendly dog with vaccinations up to date. Blue is being rehomed due to a change of domestic circumstances and through no fault of her own. She must live in a rural location, becuase she is not a town girl - being nervous of traffic.
For the past 10 months Blue has lived happily with an older, steady male dobermann. Most of Blue's exercise has been off lead and she has good recall, but she does need more training on the lead. Can be seen in Dumfries. Has not lived with children or cats. Travels well in the car. Needs a home that can offer company and lots of love. Call Evelyn Sengendo on (01294) 272184. If leaving a message please give land line number or call back.
Jinty - Click On Pictures For Larger Versions
Black and tan dobie bitch with a tail was born on 14 February, Valentine's Day, 2009. Her vaccinations are up to date and she is both microchipped and spayed. Jinty is a sweet-natured bitch who loves her toys, travels well in the car and has her Bronze Good Citizens K.C. Award.
Sadly up for rehoming due to owner's health problems, Jinty has not lived with children, tolerates cats and lives with a 7 year old, male collie cross. A lovely young bitch who will make a great companion and will obviously respond to and benefit from further training. Please contact Evelyn Sengendo on (01294) 272184. Please don't provide mobile numbers if leaving a message ( landline telephone numbers only or call back).
Boston - Click On Pictures For Larger Versions
Up-date: Boston was surrendered to the DWA in very poor condition. He will not be rehomed at the moment until various tests have been carried out by a vet.
Boston is a black and tan entire male with a tail, aged 2 years and will need a knowledgeable home. Currently being fed little and often as he is extremely thin weighing barely 23 kilos.
House trained, friendly and easy going Boston is currently sharing a home with children, other dogs, cats and is good with livestock. He travels well in the car and loves to play especially with balls. . Enquiries to Evelyn Sengendo on (01294) 272184.
Sidney
This black and tan dobie bitch is aged 6 years and has been used for breeding but is now spayed. She sadly needs to be rehomed due to her owner's ill health. She is presently living with 2 female Bichon Frise and 4 cats however, she is not keen on male dogs so will be homed as an only dog or possibly with another female dog. Walks to heel on the lead and has good recall.
Sidney travels well in the car and enjoys watching where she is going. A sweet natured bitch who needs a calm and quiet environment because of former treatment. Sidney does not like men and cowers and runs and hides when they approach her so an ideal home for her would be in a female household. Can be seen in Kent. Enquiries to Sue Garner (01895) 253578. Messages left from mobiles cannot be returned.
Zara
Black and tan, 19 months old, spayed and docked bitch. Zara has had a tough start in life already having had two homes she was ill-treated so she is shy but still has a very sweet nature. When surrendered to the DWA Zara was as thin as a rake having been kept in a hayshed with working farm collies. Needs a quiet, caring home with no children, cats or farm livestock nearby where she can regain her confidence in mankind, be properly socialised and have the life every dog deserves.
Zara is certain to reward an owner who puts in the time to socialise and train her and give her a proper home life. Living in Ayrshire. Foster carer would also be considered. Enquiries to Evelyn Sengendo (01294) 272184 please remember land line numbers only if leaving a message.
Jed
Sadly and reluctantly only being rehomed since Jed's owner's health has deteriorated. Jed was rescued by present family over 2 years ago from an SSPCA centre and is a very friendly, much loved and affectionate boy who loves to play, especially with squeaky toys. Travels well in the car, not destructive and likes being groomed. Jed is not keen on some other dogs probably through lack of proper socialisation, is strong on the lead and walked on a halti, but where it is quiet goes off lead and has good recall. Barks at cats and hates slippy floors, dislikes having his nails clipped. Confined or narrow areas and going upstairs worry him. Suitable to rehome with family used to large breeds and with children aged 11 and up. Enquiries to Evelyn Sengendo (01294) 272184 - please remember Evelyn cannot return calls to mobiles.
Tara
Black and tan and approximately 6 years old this cracking looking bitch is a handsome and powerful individual with bags of character. Tara is seeking a similar owner who is experienced with her breed and has a large secure garden or grounds. Tara will not be rehomed with other pets or a young family as she is such a strong, boisterous individual who needs a one to one relationship with her new owner for further training. Unfortunately Tara is not good with other dogs. Tara is spayed and vaccinated, travels well in the car is very friendly and greets people with enthusiasm. It is difficult to understand how this bitch ended up in a rescue centre as in the right hands she will make someone a great companion, however, she does require further socialising, training on the lead and firm but fair management. Tara loves being with people and needs her forever home.
The Featured Dobies Below are two fine looking girls who have been in kennels far too long and we are sure their forever homes are out there somewhere.
Darcy

Update: Etta is in her new home and settling in well. Seven year old, black and tan, spayed bitch with a docked tail. Etta's vaccinations are up to date. She is a quiet, nice natured dog who lives with a 10 month old child. She is not used to cats. She travels well in the car and is used to being left alone.
She is good with other dogs off the lead but whilst on the lead will bark at them if they bark at her. She is used to staying with a relative who has a Jack Russell bitch.
Etta has an under-active thyroid and is currently on Soloxine medication. Her current owners have had her for 4 years. Hopefully Etta now has her forever home where she will receive the care, company and love that she deserves in her twilight years.
Merlin - Click On Pictures For Larger Versions
Update: Merlin has settled in really well with his new family. Initially a few teething problems accepting the horses which he obviously thought were fire breathing, people eating, monsters!
Black and tan, castrated, micro-chipped and docked male dobermann aged 4 years and 5 months old (as of February 2010).
Merlin was handed into a dog pound in Cumbria apparently no longer wanted by one of many owners.
He is a delightful friendly dog who welcomes everyone, ignores cats, doesn't bother other dogs and has good recall.
Desperate for company, Merlin does not like being left on his own.
Milly
Update: Milly has been rehomed!
Black and tan, 2 1/2 year old spayed bitch that originally came from Spain and therefore has a docked tail. Milly's vaccinations are up to date; she is microchipped and has a pet passport. She is nice natured, has lived with a male Bull Mastiff and is good with other dogs although she will sometimes snap at other bitches. She is not used to cats and has not lived with children.
Christy - Click On Picture For Larger Version
Update: 28 February 2010 - Christy met her new family and has moved to the Highlands where she has made herself at home. Black and tan dobie bitch around 5 to 6 years old. Abandoned by her owner in kennels 9 months ago. Christy is an affectionate girl who likes to lean on you, or sit on your feet being desperate for contact. Very friendly, appears tolerant of other dogs and obedient to commands. Knowing nothing of her past we cannot rehome Christy with children and she would probably be better as the only pet having spent so long in isolation.
Spirit
Spirit is now happily settled in his new home. This dog has inspired extraordinary commitment from his new owners who made a round trip 0f 1200 miles to meet and collect him. Wishing all a happy outcome. Spirit is a black and tan, castrated 4 year old male dobermann with a docked tail. A well loved, friendly family dog reluctantly rehomed through no fault of his own. Spirit has lived in a household consisting of 5 children, 2 adults and 2 other dogs.
Sophie
Update: Happily Sophie was rehomed on the 16 February 2010.
Black and tan, 5 year old spayed bitch that came to DWA from a dog pound where she came in as a stray. She is not suitable for homing with children or cats. Sophie loves people and is good with other dogs when she gets to know them. Sophie requires an experienced Dobermann home. She is being cared for in our kennels in South Wales. For further details please call Sue James, tel. 07789 071738 during kennel hours, Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm.
Jess
Update: 15 February 2010 - Jess has been adopted by her foster carer, she is such a sweetie. Black and tan, docked dobermann bitch 6 years old with up-to-date vaccinations. Jess has not been spayed and is currently living with recently deceased owner's family. New, forever home urgently needed as her carers do not have the time to exercise Jess or give her the attention she needs. She is living with family who have a 12 year old child and a young baby.
Jess is good in the car, does pull on the lead but has only been walked with an ordinary collar and may benefit from using a halti, gencon or similar. Jess is friendly and full of fun and loves affection. Goes for walks in the park and has fair recall. Update: 6 February 2010 - Jess went into foster care and is not being re-homed until various health checks have been carried out.
Tilly
Tilly has a new home and moved in on 7 February 2009. Thank you all those people who took an interest in her earlier this year. Tilly is a lovely natured black and tan docked dobie bitch, thought to be between 4 and 6 years old. She is full of energy and fun despite having had at least one litter of pups. She was obviously just a commodity to her owner as this person sold her off as a Christmas present to an unknowledgeable person and she was surrendered to a dog pound. To read more about Tilly please see - Tilly's Troubles - page.
Marley
Marley, 8 years old this month, is a handsome entire black and tan dobe with a wonderful nature.
Marley has now found a new caring home to read more go to Marley's Story
Digger
Digger and Kaiser two litter brothers came to the attention of the DWA in July/August 2008. Just one year old they were living together in a shed never having been house trained and were lying in soiled conditions. Kaiser and Diggers circumstances were exacerbated when their young owner's relationship broke down and after Digger was re-homed Kaiser was surrendered into DWA care.
As you will see from - the picture gallery - Digger has truly landed on his paws and is leading the life every dog deserves.
